Parable of the Fig Tree

Matthew 24:32-35

---line---

Now learn a parable of the fig tree;

( Israel )

When his branch is yet tender,

( May 1948 Israel returns as a state )

And putteth forth leaves,

( June 1967 Israel recaptures Jerusalem )

Ye know that summer is nigh:

( Last Days )

So likewise ye, (Israel) when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors
( Last Days = Second Coming )

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

( 40 Years = 1 Generation )

( 40 years will not expire until the fulfillment of the end time prophecies )

( June 1967 to June 2007 )

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

( God is everlasting )

Why is Israel the Fig Tree?

Jeremiah chapter 24
In the time of Jeremiah the prophet, the nation of Israel was disobedient before God. Jeremiah warned the people that if they didn't turn from their evil ways, God would send the King of Babylon against them. And so, as prophesied by Jeremiah and confirmed by history, Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon went down and took the nation of Israel captive, and destroyed the 1st Temple.
When Jeremiah wrote this prophecy, he used the symbol of "Figs" as the children of Israel. So if the Figs are the children of Israel, what is the Fig Tree?

The place in which the Figs were born
"The Land of Israel"

Why is a generation 40 years in the bible?

Numbers 14:31-35
In the days of Moses, when the children of Israel murmured against God, they were made to wonder in the wilderness for 40 years, this was done so that a new generation would enter the promised land. And so, as did a new generation enter the promised land, a generation viewed in the bible, is every 40 years.

The Countdown of 40.

Through out the history of the Bible there has always been a countdown of 40 before a new beginning, Noah and the Flood, Moses and the Ten Commandments, Israel and the Promised Land, Jesus and the Temptation of Satan, then going on to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom. And so there shall be a countdown of 40 before the new kingdom on earth begins.
